Environment
Preserving the environment means firstly to preserve People. Rodriguez Group attaches great importance to health and safety conditions and the work environment at its Italian partner’s shipyards.
Hence, year after year, the working conditions of workers have clearly improved. The systematic use of work masks, the improvement in air circulation and the implementation of air conditioning and filter systems have significantly increased the work comfort level. In parallel, significant efforts were also made in preserving the natural environment, particularly with regard to the marine ecosystem.
Yachts sold by the Group were among the first to be equipped with sewage and other wastewater storage tanks, whereas they were previously directly discharged into open sea or at port. Wastewater is then collected and stored at ports, before being forwarded to wastewater treatment facilities. A number of ports do not have the infrastructures necessary to empty out those tanks. Rodriguez has therefore decided to equip its yachts with the Hamman system, an on-board wastewater treatment facility. Sewage and wastewater are thus collected and treated by a combination of physical and chemical treatments. These waters, once treated, can be disposed of into the sea with no other treatment necessary. This system is certified by the IMO (International Maritime Organization), US Coast Guard Type II, G.L. RINA…
Rodriguez Group is aware that the dream it sells to its clients is primarily based on the beauty of holiday destinations and thus strives to protect these natural sites. Also, the now nearly systematic use of hydrojets in place of propellers significantly reduces the adverse impacts on marine wildlife. Indeed, whereas propellers could injure sea mammals, hydrojets eliminate the risk of injuring protected species such as whales and dolphins.
In addition, the Engine International Air Pollution Prevention Certificate (EIAPP) provided for every MTU engine in a Group yacht guarantees compliance with international standards in force. Thus Rodriguez Group ensures that all its yachts conform to both the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, amended by the Protocols of 1978 and 1997, and the Technical Code on Control of Emission of Nitrogen Oxides from Marine Diesel Engines. Thus, the Group, conscious of the vulnerability of marine ecosystems, is committed to the preservation of the sea and its resources.
